100 piculs Beans - 55 bags Dates - bags Singer Candy. + bags of Cakes and 4 bags of oil when sailing Sam- moon yesterday afternoon 2 o'clock: his boat was attacked by a large junk who opened a fire of Cannon and Musketry which was returned and continued on both sides for about two hours, but without killing or wounding any of either party. The pirate afterwards closed and about 30 armed men boarded. 11 of the Crew jumped overboard at this time who are supposed to have reached the shore. The other 8 were placed under hatches and the passengers were afterwards shut below by the pirates and the Cargo transhipped to the junk. The Men from below were then released at about midnight and allowed to sail their boat away.
When they stood for Macao they arrived at 8 o'clock this morning. The Informant and others of the Crew came on shore to identify the pirate boat and several of the pirates. Yeong-ah-Sze, a coolie at "Treasure Street", saw the cargo on board at the time, confirms this report.
